Peach Pedal 61 Mile Route Adjusted Due to Construction
The 28th annual Peach Pedal Bike Ride is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, and organizers have made a few changes to the 61 mile route due to road construction.
In previous years, the 61 mile route took riders north on Bennett road, then east on 3028 and straight into Millsap. Due to the recent heavy rains, the construction project on the Rock Creek Bridge located on 3028 has been delayed. Because of construction, the bridge is not passable. Riders for the 61 mile route will detour northeast on Wolf Hollow Rd to turn left on 1189, turn left again and continue straight on the I-20 access road, turn right onto Poe Prairie Rd., continue west on Poe Prairie toward Ww Ln. then straight onto Stephens Rd., turn right onto FM 113 continue onto Fannin St., head southwest on NW Front St. toward N Plum St., stay on NW Front St. then turn right on Mesquite Dr. toward W. Borden. The route will continue on its normal path from that point back to Weatherford High School.
Residents who live near FM 113 and the Millsap area are asked to be cautious when driving in the area on the morning of the ride.
The rest of the routes will take the more than 2,000 cyclists through Dennis, Brock, Newberry, Greenwood and back into Weatherford.
